Additional Event Information
Arrival Times and Start of Event
The event officially begins at 5pm on Thursday which is when the reception desk will open. The organisers and some exhibitors will be on site setting up from early afternoon. Please do not arrive before 4pm unless you are able to help with the set up of the event – pre-event gaming may be available in the Group Room if we finish setting up early. The Reception and Event Desk will officially open at 5pm; please note that we will not be able to tell you your room, give out lanyards / badges or register you onto scheduled events until then.
We’ll have a short Welcome at 8pm in which everyone can play ‘A Game About Making Wordy Connections‘ by Bez, together with the Workspace Expansion by Dave. This will be followed by ‘Dice or Die?’ – the Opening Night Deadly Dice Fight’ in the Exhibitors Hall from 8.30pm. ‘Dice or Die?’ has been specially designed for the Getaway is a a chance to hurl large squishy dice at each other.
Reception and Event Desk: On arrival, please register at the Reception and Event Desk in the Manor House where you’ll be able to pick up your name badge and lanyard, and your schedule of pre-booked events. You will be able to sign-up for other events if you wish on sign-up sheets there. There will be a whiteboard which we will update daily with each day’s timetable of what’s happening where and when. The Reception and Event Desk will be staffed by one or more of our friendly volunteers until 10pm each day, with contact numbers should you need to find an organiser when the desk is closed.
Food & Drink: Snacks will be available to purchase from our small bar and cafe in the Group Room. You may bring their own food and drink if you wish, but please do not bring excessive quantities of alcohol. There will be an in-character bar on Saturday evening in the in-character tavern ‘Game for a Game’ event.
Photography: An official photographer will be taking photos during the event, some of which may be posted on social media. Please let him, or one of the organisers, know if you’d rather not appear in the photos.
End of Event
The event officially ends at 4pm on Sunday. We’ll start gradually packing up after lunch on Sunday, but you’ll be able to carrying on gaming in the Group Room until 4pm, although we suggest everyone joins in ‘Dice or Die?’: The Closing Fight: What Grammar is Right? in the Exhibitors hall from 3.30pm. That should be a chaotic way to have some crazy fun as we finish the event.
We need to be off-site by 5pm.
